Time to Look Back
"If you decide to go abroad, you will realize that time passes much too quickly. You experience incredible transition periods where foreign situations become normal life. A place far from home becomes home. Strangers become family. Foreign professors become trusted advisors and friends. Crazy foods you never thought you would try become part of your normal diet. You take away incredible memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life- and let's face it, those memories will be all you talk about when you return home. Take a million pictures and write down everything in your journal."

Alena Purpero attends the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater where she majors in communications with an emphasis in health communications. During the 2016 spring semester, Purpero studied abroad in Perth, Australia through the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS). Throughout her time abroad, she created several videos documenting each trip and the friends she had made. The program noticed her videos and asked her to create one to promote the experience she had while studying abroad with AIFS. This video is now used in promotions around the world.
